His first memorial was designed in Israel in 1967 and was in honor of the victims of the Six Day War. Inspired by his life experiences, Canneto brings those interpretations to life in his art. His work incorporates the beauty and inspiration of the environment with which the pieces occupy but also strives to create a personal connection and impact with the community. Canneto has collections in several countries as well as works for corporations, residences and inspirational public spaces. Canneto has received several awards for his work including the American Institute of Landscape Architects Honor Award and the State of Ohio Gold Star Award. His work has been featured in the Smithsonian and he is also the Founding Director of ArtSafe, a not-for-profit organization established to provide opportunities for communities to use the arts to create a safe and nurturing environment for children and adults. Canneto eventually turned his artistic talent to cremation urns. His urns capture the spirit of the individual and the human connection that allows for family to remember those they have lost with a beautiful piece of artwork. The resin cremation urn made of cold cast bronze finish features a candle at the top which is representative of the spark of life we all carry. The base has the appearance of a hardwood tree and the finish varies from a rough appearance to smooth as you go from bottom to top. The ribbons at the top surround the candle and are a gentle whisper that there is a connection between those we love that does not break.
